Tuesday:  "Talk Back" to the poem "Annabel Lee" as demonstrated in class. Click here for another copy of the poem and the homework questions.  Annabel Lee  Students without the homework "ticket" tomorrow will not be able to participate in the most unique class of the year!  Instead, they will write for 45 minutes!  Do this homework!

Week of 9/2

Tuesday, 9/2:  Tonight you will write two paragraphs.  One will be titled:  "Here's What You Can Expect From Me as a Student in Class"  and the second will be "Here's What I Expect From You, Mrs. Curran, as My English Teacher This Year."  One paragraph for each topic.  Typed or handwritten

Wednesday, 9/3:  Rewiew notes for a five-paragraph essay.  Our first practice CMT prompt is tomorrow!  Remember:  Help Me Find Reasons For Essay (health/safety, money, friends, recreation, family, education).

Thursday, 9/4:  Study for our first spelling quiz of the year, Latin/Greek Roots List 1.  See the Spelling link on the left for the words, which were distributed in class Tuesday, 9/2

Week of 8/28

8/28, Thursday:  Bring in an item for our back bulletin board that represents "you."  Past students have brought in pictures, sports items, symbols of favorite hobbies, and more.  Use your imagination, but remember:  I must hang 93 items, so keep them relatively small.

8/29, Friday:  Write me a one-page essay titled, "Here's What You Need to Know About Me, Mrs. Curran."  This paper may be typed or handwritten, as long as it is neat. You may tell me anything you think I should know, whether or not it concerns academics.  You'll have a chance to tell me what kind of student you are in Tuesday night's homework, so feel free to focus on other areas.

Due Sept. 9:  Summer Reading Assignment:  Click on the link at left for information on the summer reading assessment, which was reviewed in class 8/29.  Students who attended Polson in 7th grade but who have not read one of the eight required books may submit the assignment based on another book; however, five points will be deducted from the grade.
